Privacy Policy

Who this is

Cubby is developed by an individual, not a company. For everything below, "we" and "us" means the developer of Cubby. Contact for anything in this policy: support@cubby.baby.

What we collect

Account: your email address and password, handled by our authentication provider (Supabase, see "Where your data lives" below). We never see or store your password ourselves.

Family and caregiver info: your family's display name, and for each caregiver a name, a relationship label such as "Mum" or "Grandma", and a colour you pick, plus, for a caregiver with their own login, which account that is.

Child info: name, birth date, sex, an assigned colour, and which of the common food allergens have been introduced and when, if you use that tracker.

Logged entries: every feed, sleep, nappy, potty, pump, medicine dose, activity, growth measurement, temperature reading and symptom you or another caregiver logs, including the type-specific details each one carries (for example a medicine's name and dose, a nappy's contents, or a symptom's severity), timestamps, and any note you add. This is the core, health-adjacent data the app exists to store.

Optional trackers, if you use them: recurring medicine schedules and reminder timing, vaccination records including any custom schedule items you add, and milestone records.

Settings: things like your preferred units, time format, bedtime window, and which quick-log buttons you've chosen to show, stored per family. We also keep your device's time zone with your caregiver profile, so reminders and the Apple Watch app judge bedtime by the clock where you are.

Notifications: if you turn on nap or medicine reminders, use the Apple Watch app, or turn on Live Activities, the push tokens your devices give us so we can send those updates to them. No message content is stored beyond what's needed to send each one.

Automations: if you connect Home Assistant, a token scoped to your family that lets it log sleep on your behalf, and nothing else about your smart-home setup.

Invite codes: the codes you create to invite someone into your family or link families, until they're used or expire. If a code entered on your account doesn't work, we note when, only so we can limit how many guesses anyone can make.

Cubby doesn't show ads. We don't use any third-party analytics or advertising trackers, and we don't sell your data to anyone, ever.

Usage events: which features get used, like which log types get tapped or when Insights gets opened, so we can tell what's worth improving. Each one records which account and family it came from, your device type and the app version. This stays in our own database and never leaves it for a third party. It never includes the logged data itself: no sleep or feed times, no health values, no names, nothing about your child. If you delete your account, the link to it is removed and only the anonymous count stays.

How we use it

To run the app: storing and syncing what you log, computing the predictions and summaries you see, such as nap windows, feed timing and growth percentiles, and sending reminders you've turned on. We don't use your data for anything beyond providing the app to you and your family.

Who can see it

Everyone you've added to your family, whether they have their own login or you've added them as a placeholder caregiver, can see everything logged for that family's children. If you use Cubby's family-linking feature, for example to share a child's data with a co-parent's separate household, the families you've linked can see whatever you've chosen to share the same way. No one outside families you've explicitly invited or linked can see your data.

Where your data lives

Cubby is built on Supabase for its database and authentication, and hosted on Vercel for the web app itself. Reminder notifications are passed to your device through Expo's push service. All three are third-party infrastructure providers who process your data on our behalf, under their own security and data-processing terms; none uses your data for their own purposes. If you use Cubby on iOS, Apple additionally handles push-notification delivery and, if you subscribe through the App Store, your payment. Cubby never receives your card details either way.

Access to your family's data in our database is restricted at the database level to signed-in members of that family, not just hidden in the app's interface.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete individual log entries, children or caregivers yourself in the app at any time. To delete your account, open More in the app and choose Delete account. It's removed from Cubby straight away. If you own a family that someone else also signs in to, you pick who takes it over (we suggest whoever has been in it longest), and the family's records stay with them. If nobody else signs in to it, the family and everything logged in it are deleted along with your account. You can also ask us to do it at support@cubby.baby.

Children's data

Cubby is used by adult and teenage caregivers to log information about a child in their care. The child is not the app's user and doesn't create an account or sign in themselves. We don't knowingly collect data directly from children. If you're a parent or guardian and believe a child has somehow created their own Cubby account, contact us and we'll remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to object to how it's processed. Most of this you can already do yourself in the app; for anything else, contact support@cubby.baby.

International transfers

Our infrastructure providers may process and store data in countries other than your own, including outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens, we rely on our providers' own standard safeguards for international transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, rather than maintaining separate arrangements of our own.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the effective date above and, where practical, flag it in the app.
